DIESEL

Congratulations

 Wazimo!

The Pilot 24 is now available with diesel power.  The First Pilot 24 with Diesel was launched last August and the third this month.  The power plant that we have been using is the  Volvo Penta D4-260/DP.  This engine is equipped with a Duo-prop stern drive and produces 260 HP.  Other benefits to this motor is Volvo Penta EVC system (Electronic Vessel Control).  This systems essentially electronically controls the entire engine making every function more precise and reliable.  Also because of the demand for Diesel power we will be offering the Volvo Penta D4-225/DP and the Volvo Penta D3-195 with Ocean Series Drive.

In initial sea trials the Diesel has out performed the gasoline power plant in almost every category.  The diesel was able to reach a top speed of 40 MPH burning 13 gallons per hour, with a full tank of fuel and 5 people on board.  At a speed of 24 MPH the engine only burned 6 gallons per hour.  The handling characteristics of the diesel were also out standing.  The torque provides you with the ability to precisely maneuver the Pilot 24 around the docks and then pushes the boat onto plain almost instantly.

Holby Marine Co. has also teamed up with Garmin.  All Holby Marine boats are know available with Garmin Electronics.  Recently we have installed 2 of Garmin's Network Systems on our Pilot 24 and have had a great response from our customers.  Holby Marine is proud to offer a Garmin with all of our boats and provide our customers with not only a quality boat but the quality accessories that every customer is looking for.

Holby Marine Company would like to congratulate our owner Barrett Holby for his success sailing his Holby Marine built Quest to victory in the Bermuda 1-2 2005 race.  Barrett has been a successful sailor for many years with the awards to prove it and he now has added a couple more to the shelf.

Barrett received the RI GOVERNOR'S TROPHY: Awarded for the best combined corrected finish in fleet by a RI resident with a time of 172:10 ( in 2003 it was 179:26) as well as the SPIRIT OF BERMUDA CUP – best CCT finish, Class 3 1st Place.  Barrett's boat Wazimo has proven itself over the years as a constant winner as well as Barrett.  We congratulate everyone that participated in the race and look forward to having a Quest 36 compete in the 2007 Bermuda 1-2.

After the completion of the two new power boats that Holby Marine is currently building we are hoping to start development on the newest member of the Quest series.  Currently in the process of development the new Quest will fall in between the plans for the Quest 40 and the already legendary Quest 33.  The design by Roger Martin has already received by Holby Marine Company and now we are in the process of developing the project and determining if the Quest 36 will be of interest for those whom enjoy a boat suited for cruising but is a true racer at heart.  Once we have determined that there is enough interest in the Quest 36 the building process will begin.  Currently we hope to start the process this winter.  For more information regarding the new Quest 36 plans please contact us at any time.
